Organise Me is 7
Organise Me is 7 🎈
Seven years. I’m not quite sure how that happened, but Organise Me is officially 7!
When I started the business, I definitely didn’t have a seven-year plan. I didn’t know exactly what Organise Me would become, and I certainly didn’t have all the answers.
Seven years later? I still don’t. But I have learnt a lot along the way.
One of the biggest lessons has been that being busy and running a successful business are not the same thing. A packed diary and a full inbox might look great from the outside, but if you’re constantly chasing your tail, something isn’t working.
I’ve also got much better at saying no. Not every client is the right client, not every opportunity needs to be taken, and definitely not every meeting needs to go in the diary.
And, of course, I’ve learnt a lot about organisation.
I used to think being organised was mostly about having good systems. And yes, I love Asana, a well-planned calendar and a tidy inbox as much as anyone!
But a system can’t fix everything.
Sometimes you need to work out why you’re overwhelmed, what you can let go of, where you need support and what actually deserves your attention.
I’ve learnt that delegating is hard too slightly ironic considering what I do! Building a team has made me better at communicating, documenting things and accepting that someone else doesn’t have to do something exactly like me to do a brilliant job.
Probably the biggest lesson, though, is that your business is allowed to change.
What worked two years ago might not work today. Services change. Clients change. Life changes. You change.
There have been brilliant bits, difficult bits, mistakes, changes of direction and plenty of overthinking along the way.
But seven years later, Organise Me is still here — and I’m clearer than ever about what I want it to be.
I don't want to build the busiest business I possibly can. I want to build one that works — for my clients, my team, my family and me.
So, happy 7th birthday Organise Me. 🥳
Still learning. Still changing things. And occasionally still making it up as I go.
But definitely a lot more organised than I was seven years ago. 😉
Organised Wishes,
Helen
