The Fortune’s in the Follow-Up

We’ve all been there.
You have a great conversation with a potential client. They seem keen. You part ways with a “Sounds good, I’ll have a think,” and then… crickets.

Now you’re stuck in the follow-up limbo.
Do you message again?
Are you being annoying?
Should you just leave it?

Here’s the honest truth: Most people don’t ghost you because they’re not interested.
They’re just busy. Life gets in the way.

Kids, work, emails, to-do lists—your offer is probably still on their mind, but buried under everything else. That’s where a friendly follow-up can make all the difference.

Why Follow-Ups Matter (and Why We Avoid Them)

Most small business owners don’t lose work because they aren’t good at what they do.
They lose it because they don’t follow up.
It feels awkward. It feels pushy. But it doesn’t have to.

Follow-up can be simple, natural, and even helpful—if you do it the right way.

Here’s How I Make It Feel Less Awkward:

💡 Schedule it in
I set a reminder in my task list (usually 3–5 days after the initial conversation). That way, I’m not relying on memory—and I can follow up without the dread.

💬 Keep it casual
No big sales pitch. Just a simple:
“Hey! Just checking in—let me know if you had any questions or if you’re still thinking it over.”
Short. Friendly. Easy to ignore if they’re not interested (and often just the nudge they need if they are).

🧠 Don’t take it personally
A “no” or no reply doesn’t mean you’re rubbish at this. It just means it wasn’t right for them right now. Your only job is to show up professionally and consistently.

Your Reminder to Follow Up Today

If you’ve got potential clients sitting in your inbox, notes app, or DMs—this is your sign.

Send that message.
Reignite the conversation.
A quick follow-up today might lead to the sale you thought you lost.

Because success doesn’t just come from showing up once.
It comes from showing up again—with confidence.

Keep things simple,
Helen :)
